97-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Credits Her Success With Wanting To Attend A Wedding

I think all of us know how motivational it can be when we have a goal in mind and want to achieve it. Nobody knows this better than Tennie Ivy, a 97-year-old grandmother who was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Not only was she diagnosed with breast cancer at the ripe age of 97, but it also occurred during the pandemic.

It seemed as if it was a one-two punch that would’ve taken many people down, but Ivy saw things differently. You see, her grandchild’s wedding was coming up and she didn’t want to miss it.

In speaking with a local news station, she said: “I had to go to that wedding. I had been to all three and it was in Greenville, South Carolina, and I said I’ve got to get well for that. And I was never sick. No problems.”

In order to deal with the situation, she had surgery, along with chemotherapy and radiation. In the end, she gives credit to the “doctors, nurses, and the Lord.”

The great news is, as of October 11, she is cancer-free.

She also has some memories from the wedding that was delayed due to the pandemic, but she was there with a smile on her face.
