Next, take the top 5 distractions and focus on minimizing temptations. If your smartphone is high on your list, disable badges and notifications and put your phone out of reach when you need to get work done.
Next, find an environment that is conducive to work. This will vary from person to person; however, an optimal environment often does three things: limits distractions, allows you to work comfortably for long periods of time, and limits social interaction.
Although working in groups can be beneficial, such as when using the Feynman technique, solo work often allows you to focus for longer without becoming distracted by others.
Lastly, try the Pomodoro method. Choose 1 task to work on for 25 minutes and focus on that alone. Once you’re done, take a five minute break, then repeat for 4 cycles.
