How to SURVIVE (& Thrive) in Medical School #SHORTS

Videos
Here’s how to not only survive but thrive in medical school. First, be adaptable. Medical school is an entirely different beast from anything you’ve experienced before. What worked during high school and college likely won’t be enough anymore. You’ll need to experiment, track, and ultimately challenge your current assumptions and ways of living.

Next, hone your study strategies. Learning in medical school is like drinking from the proverbial firehose. It’s not enough to just study hard, you also have to study efficiently. No more passively reading your notes or listening to lectures all day, active learning strategies are a must.

Next, create systems to streamline your life. Create a daily schedule and lay out how you will spend your time. Clean up your study space so it is neatly organized and clutter-free. And utilize a task manager so that nothing gets missed.

Lastly, leave your ego behind. Even if you got a perfect GPA and 99.9th percentile MCAT score, it won’t always be that way in medical school. Be respectful to yourself and the people around you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
