Markeisha Wardell, owner of Rose Beauty Bar and Markeisha Rose Extensions, loves her job as a hairdresser, but understands that not everyone can afford to get their hair done.

She wants everyone to feel beautiful, regardless of financial means, so she created Select Your Crown to help women and children with alopecia or hair loss due to chemotherapy.

She is creating and donating 100 wigs from her hair line to these people who can’t otherwise afford them and will let them choose their favorite at her Select Your Crown event.

“It’s kind of gonna be around like a graduation ceremony, call you, you come up & you go behind that special curtain & get your wig applied, & then you come out & there’s going to be a runway show,” she told News Channel 5.

Wardell said her heart hurt when she realized a lot of people who came into her shop couldn’t afford high quality wigs, since they start at around $400, so she started saving her money and decided to create this event.

At the event, they will take the time to customize the wigs for each and every person, so their hair can look as close to their original hair as possible.

She has even created a special room in her shop for people who feel self conscious. Women trying on the wigs can go into the private room so they won’t feel out of their comfort zone.
