4 Lies About Top-Performing Students #SHORTS

Videos
Here are 4 lies you’ve been told about becoming a top-performing student. Number one, you have to be naturally smart. While natural intelligence can give you a leg up, it isn’t enough on its own. Your discipline and your approach to studying are much more important than individual variations in intelligence. Number two, more knowledge equates to better grades. Tests and standardized exams don’t just assess the amount of information you know. They also test your understanding and application of that information.

Knowing every single fact in the textbook doesn’t do you much good unless you understand how those facts fit together and how to apply them.

Number three, you have to tailor your education to your learning style.

Visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles lack scientific validity.

What does change a student’s performance is whether they follow evidence-based learning principles in their studying.

Number four, you need to have no life and fully dedicate yourself to studying.

Top students get there by having a well-balanced and well-rounded life. Sustainability is the name of the game. If you’re not allowing yourself to exercise, destress, unwind and enjoy life, you’ll quickly burn out.
